The Real Gem of Nueva Ecija

Minalungao National Park is a protected area, located in the municipality of General Tinio, (also know as Papaya) Nueva Ecija. It endowed with nature’s beauty and preserve by its seclusion.

 The park is covered an area of 2018 hectares is one of the few remaining natural environments in the region,  it features a breathtaking view of the narrow and deep Penaranda River, where the green color of the river, blend perfectly with the lush of green grass and trees in a spectacular limestone walls on both side of the river

The  limestone walls are 16 meters high sculptured by nature itself, where visitors can relax, reflect and meditate in the serenity of the place.

Bamboo rafts are commonly used for navigating the river, good for 8 to 12 person, today there is a bigger floating raft  for a bigger group.

 Visitors may also choose to trek along the side of the limestone formation to reach the other side of the river….

 The upper part of the river found the clear and shallow part of the river, where locals also used it for transporting their commodities.

The local Government  promoted the place as an ecotourism destination, where a system of  caves are also identified as potential attractions.

One of the rocky formation around the river is the mouth of the caves, where most of the caves are remain unexplored.

Spelunking is another recreational experience in Minalungao, enjoyed by all ages, where varieties of stalagmites and stalactites  are witnessed in varieties of forms.

Guides are available at no fixed rate. They provides flashlight and information about the caves. Donations for the guides are highly appreciated.

A 1,000 steps, located at the highest point of the park,  facing the panoramic view of Sierra Madre mountain ranges . A view of faith and endurance, climbing are in need of physical and mental challenge. True believer or mere nature lover, this is worth to visit.                 

 

What to do?

 Minalungao is best for river bumming like swimming, cliff diving, raft riding, best place for picnic, friends and family bonding.

 How to get there?

By own car

Take North Luzon Express Way (NLEX) Exit at Sta Rita then follow the road Cagayan Valley highway  Upon reaching the town  proper of  Gapan Nueva Ecija, turn right gong to General Tinio (Papaya) Nueva Ecija.

By Public Transport

There are number of bus company  bound for Cabanatuan, like Baliwag Transit, Five Star, and ES Bus along EDSA near Cubao, Remind the driver or conductor to drop  you to town proper of Gapan. From there, there are jeepney and tricycle terminal that bring you to Papaya, Nueve Ecija.
