Pinancanauan River is one of the largest tributaries of Cagayan River- The longest, widest and most powerful river in the Philippines. It named from the local term Pinancanauan, which means “left most”. It found in the southeast of Cagayan Valley Province in municipality of Penablanca, along with other river it drains the agricultural plains of Cagayan Valley and serves as a water source of irrigation and other purposes.
The green color of the river, blend perfectly with the lush of green grasses and trees in a spectacular limestone mountain.
You can relax, reflect and meditate in the serenity of the place.
Along the river found the number of cave system in Penablanca. One of the rocky formation of the mountain around the river is the mouth of the cave.
While waiting the bats, visitors can enjoy the river, Pinancanauan River is a great place for water adventure, popular site for boating, swimming, as well as kayaking and picnic.
Just before the sunset, the boatman instruct visitors to proceed in the white sand islet near the hole of the cave, to have a great view where bats flies out. As soon as the sun down below the horizon, the bats flies creating a spectacular view.
The sound of wings flapping in the air added an excitement to all watchers.
The cruise is so short and flying of bats lasted for around three minutes only but the experience is awesome and memorable.
